The recipes below are our tried and true favorites that we use all year round. But when the bounty from our local Farmer’s Market inspires us, we’ll be sure to post new seasonal favorites, so be sure to come back and see what’s new.

 
 
 

Easter Cocktails

Fresh Market Gimlet 

Aromatic basil lends both flavor and aroma for a twist on a classic 

  • 4-5 leaves of basil, torn (also try Thai or Lemon Basil) 

  • 2 oz. Square One Organic Vodka 

  • 1 oz. fresh lime juice 

  • 1/2 oz. organic agave nectar

In a mixing cup muddle basil briefly with a muddling stick or back of a wooden spoon. Add crushed ice and other ingredients. Shake vigorously for 10 seconds. Strain into a chilled martini glass. No need for a garnish as little bits of basil will be floating in the cocktail.

Ginger Garden

  • 1 1/2 oz. Square One Basil

  • 1 oz. fresh Meyer or regular lemon juice

  • 3/4 oz. simple syrup or agave nectar

  • 1 Bar spoon of chopped ginger or 1 teaspoon of Square One Organic Spicy Ginger Syrup

  • Basil leaf or lemon twist as garnish

Combine all other ingredients into a mixing cup with ice. Shake well and double strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a basil leaf or lemon twist

Sherry Cobbler

Square One Bergamot's full orange taste is perfect for a riff on the classic cobbler cocktail. 

  • 1 oz. Square One Bergamot

  • 1.5 oz. Manzanilla or Dry Amontillado Sherry

  • 2 slices of orange

  • 3 raspberries

  • touch of agave nectar or simple syrup 

Muddle one slice of orange with two raspberries. Add remaining items and shake with ice. Strain into a julep or stemless wine glass filled with crushed ice and layered with raspberries and orange. Mint sprig garnish.

Botanical Lemon Drop

Square One Botanical presents an uptown version of the popular, and easy to prepare, Lemon Drop

  • 2 oz. Square One Botanical

  • 1/2 oz. fresh lemon juice

  • 1/2 oz. agave nectar or simple syrup

  • 1/2 bar spoon of absinthe

Pour absinthe into chilled cocktail glass, swirl to coat the glass and shake out excess. Pour all other ingredients into cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake hard and strain. Garnish with lemon twist

Cool Collins

  •  2 oz. Square One Cucumber 

  •  1/2 oz. fresh lemon juice

  • 1/2 oz. agave nector or simple syrup

  • soda

Combine in a cocktail tin with ice. Shake hard and strain into a Collins glass filled with ice and top with soda. Stir and garnish with a cucumber wheel. 

Option: reduce agave nectar/simple syrup to 1/4 oz. and add pear, elderflower or other liqueur.

 

 
 

Bergamot Cocktails

 
 

Cran75 

1.5 oz Square One Botanical OR Bergamot Organic vodka 

.5  oz Lemon Juice 

.5 oz Simple Syrup 

.5 oz Unsweetened Cranberry Juice 

2-3 oz Your favorite Bubbly (prosecco, champagne, etc) 

 

Pour vodka, lemon juice, simple syrup and cranberry juice into cocktail shaker. Shake with ice for 10 seconds.  Strain into champagne flute.  Top off with bubbly. Garnish with thyme, cranberries for a beautiful looking holiday cocktail.

Strawberry-Basil Martini 

  • 1 1/2 oz. Square One Basil

  • 1 1/2 oz. sour mix

  • 1 oz. strawberry purée

  • 1/4 oz. agave nectar

  • Optional: sparkling wine float or splash of ginger ale

  • Garnish: strawberry slit halfway

Pour all ingredients (except bubbles if using) into cocktail tin filled with ice. Shake for 15 seconds. Strain into cocktail glass and float splash of bubbly, if desired. Place strawberry on glass rim.

 

 

Cranberry Greyhound 

.5 oz Square One Organic Bergamot or Botanical vodka

1 oz Unsweetened cranberry juice  

2 oz Ruby red grapefruit juice  

  

Blend all ingredients into your favorite cocktail glass filled with ice.  Stir 4-5 times.  Garnish with sprig of thyme or a grapefruit slice. 

 
Bergamot with Amaretto Sour.jpg

Amaretto Sour

Amaretto is a delicious almond flavored Italian liqueur. Perfect cocktail for fall and winter. 

  • 1.5 oz. Square One Bergamot

  • 1 oz. Luxardo Amaretto

  • .75 oz. fresh lemon juice 

  • .25 oz. agave nectar or simple syrup 

  • 1 egg white

Pour egg white and other ingredients into a mixing tin and vigorously dry shake (no ice). Add ice and shake for 30 seconds again. Strain into coupe glass. Luxardo Maraschino Cherry for garnish.

Pomegranate Pearl

Mix Square One Bergamot with muddled fresh berries or juice, like this cocktail featuring pomegranate. 

  • 1.5 oz. Square One Bergamot

  • 1 oz. POM pomegranate juice

  • .5 oz. fresh lime juice

  • .5 oz. agave nectar or simple syrup

Put all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with crushed ice. Shake and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Lime twist garnish.

Afternoon with Earl

Bergamot citrus gives Earl Grey tea its signature floral notes and taste. In this cocktail, we bring this powerful duo together for a delightful afternoon "tea".

  • 1.5 oz. Square One Bergamot

  • 1.5 oz. double strength Earl Grey tea

  • .5 oz. fresh lemon juice

  • .75 oz. agave nectar or simple syrup

  • Dash of orange bitters

Put all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with orange or lemon twist.  

 

 

Rye Vodka Cocktails

 

Cranberry Thyme Collins 

1.5 oz Square One Rye vodka 

.5 oz Lemon juice 

.5 oz Simple syrup 

.5 oz     Unsweetened cranberry juice 

2 sprigs of thyme 

1-2 oz Club soda 

 

Muddle 1 sprig of thyme in bottom of cocktail shaker.  Pour all liquid ingredients together into a shaker with ice.   Shake for 10 seconds.  Strain into tall Collins glass. Top off with club soda and garnish with thyme sprigs and cranberries.

Strawberry Basil Spritzer

Created for the Slow Food Nation 2008 event in San Francisco, this end of summer refresher starts with muddled organic strawberries and basil from County Line Harvest farm in Marin.

  • 2 oz. Square One Organic Vodka

  • 3 strawberries

  • 2 basil leaves

  • 1/2 oz. lemon juice

  • 1/2 oz. agave nectar

  • Club soda 

Muddle strawberries and basil in a mixing glass.  Add other ingredients except club soda. Shake briefly with ice.  Strain into tall Collins glass filled with ice and layered with a few slices of strawberry and basil chiffonade.  Top with club soda.  Serve with a straw.  

 

Spicy Chai Appletini 

1.5 oz Square One Organic Rye Vodka 

1 oz Double strength chai tea (cooled) 

1 oz Unfiltered Apple Cider 

.5 oz Square One Organic Ginger Syrup 

 

Pour all ingredients into a shaker with ice.   Shake for 10 seconds.  Strain into your favorite cocktail glass.   Garnish with a cinnamon stick and an apple slice.   Optional to rim the glass with cinnamon cocktail sugar.

Rosemary Meyer Lemon Drop 

An herbal delight brightened by the sweetness of Meyer lemons .

  • 2 oz. Square One Organic Vodka

  • 1 oz. Meyer lemon juice (may substitute regular lemon juice)

  • 1 tbsp. fresh rosemary leaves

  • 1 tbsp. organic honey


Place rosemary leaves and honey in a mixing glass. Heat in a microwave for 5-10 seconds to melt honey. Muddle in glass for 10 seconds. Add crushed ice and other ingredients. Cover with metal mixing tin and shake for 15 seconds. Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with a rosemary sprig.

 

Ginger Apple Mule 

1.5 oz Square One Organic Vodka 

.5 oz Square One Organic Ginger Syrup 

1  oz Unfiltered apple cider 

3 oz Club soda 


Pour vodka, ginger syrup and apple cider into your favorite copper mule mug.   Fill mug with ice.  Stir 3-4 times.  Top off with club soda and stir.  Garnish with cinnamon stick and apple slices. 

 
 

Holiday Punch 

1 bottle Square One Organic Rye OR Bergamot Vodka 

½ bottle Square One Organic Spicy Ginger Syrup 

1 bottle unsweetened cranberry juice 

1 bottle Sour Mix

1 liter bottle club soda 

 

Blend all ingredients into large punch bowl with ice and stir.   Garnish with cranberries and mint along with orange and lime slices.  

 

 

Botanical Cocktails

Botanical Royale

•1 oz. Square One Botanical

•1/2 oz. Crème de Cassis*

•Champagne or Sparkling Wine

Pour Crème de Cassis and Square One Botanical into a chilled champagne flute. Top with champagne or sparkling wine. 

*Optional: Try other berry or floral liqueurs in place of the Crème de Cassis.

 
 

Pear in Thyme 

1.5 oz Square One Organic Botanical vodka 

.5 oz Unfiltered pear juice 

.5 oz Lemon juice 

.5 oz Simple Syrup 

2 thyme sprigs 

 

Muddle 1 sprig of thyme in bottom of cocktail shaker.  Pour all liquid ingredients together into a shaker with ice.   Shake for 10 seconds.  Strain into your favorite cocktail glass.    Garnish with pear slice and sprig of thyme. 

 

Cucumber Cocktails

The Spajito

A delicate spa-like twist on a classic mojito.

•2 oz. Square One Organic Cucumber Vodka

•6 sprigs of fresh mint

•1 tbsp. organic Agave nectar

•3 tbsp. peeled and diced cucumber (preferably English)

•1 lime, halved and juiced with 1 half reserved

•club soda or sparkling water

Remove leaves from all but one sprig of mint, reserving that sprig for garnish. Place mint leaves, agave nectar, cucumber and lime juice in a cocktail shaker. "Muddle" (mash) the contents of the shaker with a wooden spoon or muddler for at least 30 seconds. Strain the liquid into a tall glass filled with crushed ice. Add the cucumber vodka and the lime half and stir. Fill glass to desired level with soda water. Garnish with the remaining sprig of mint.

Aromatherapy

  • 2 oz. Square One Cucumber

  • 1/2 oz. fresh lemon juice

  • 1/2 oz. agave nectar 

  • 1/2 bar spoon rosewater 

  • 3 drops orange bitters

  •  ginger beer/ale or Square One Organic Spicy Ginger Syrup

Layer cucumber wheels interspersed within ice in a Collins glass. Combine all ingredients, except soda, with ice in mixing glass and shake to blend. Strain into prepared glass and top with ginger beer.

 
 

 

Basil Cocktails

Oaxacan Lemonade

  • 2 oz. Square One Basil

  • 1/2tsp. Mezcal

  • 1/2 oz. fresh lemon juice

  • 1/2 oz. agave nectar or simple syrup

  • 2 cilantro leaves (save 1 for garnish)

Tear cilantro leaf and put into mixing cup. Combine and shake with ice. Pour, with ice, into a rocks tumbler glass or strain into a cocktail glass.
